Understanding the color wheel is a great skill to have under your belt. There are a lot of things to learn about the color wheel and once you fully understand it, you will be able to mix colors like a color mixing professional.
Primary Colors
Red
Blue
Yellow
- These colors are the most important and the only colors that you can't
make with other colors.

Secondary Colors
Violet
Green
Orange
- These colors fall in between the primary colors.
- Each of these colors is a complementary color to one of the primary colors.
- Red + Blue = Violet
- Blue + Yellow = Green
- Red + Yellow = Orange

Complimentary Colors
Red & Green
Blue & Orange
Yellow & Purple
- These colors are complimentary to each other. A good way to know this is
when you are looking at the color wheel, they are opposite to each other on
the color wheel.
- Compliementary colors are imporatnt because when you mix to
compliments together they create a darker shade. So if you want a darker
shade of red then you will start mixing green into the red until you get the
desired shade.

Tertiary Colors

- Tertiary colors are created when you mix a primary color with a secondary
color.

Knowing all of this can be very beneficial and help you grow you skills as an artist. Practicing mixing these colors is also very helpful as well. It will take some time to understand how much of each color to mix, but with practice and patience you will get the hang of it in no time.
